Concrete in Agricultural Buildings

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food outlines the minimum specifications for the structure of agricultural buildings in S101 which was produced in March 2006. The conditions in S101 must be complied with in order to qualify for grant assistance from the Department under the Scheme of Investment Aid for Farm Waste Management.

I.S. EN 206

In relation to the use of concrete for the purpose of agricultural buildings for grant aid purposes, the Department of Agriculture guidelines state that, from February 1st 2008, all concrete used in grant-aided agriculture buildings must be produced in concrete plants audited to meet the requirements of I.S. EN 206-1:2002 by an approved certification body. In addition, concrete cannot be produced on site. A “Concrete Manufacturers Specification Certificate” is required for all concrete delivered to the site. This certificate must be submitted to the Department of Agriculture before grant aid will be paid. There are also specific requirements in relation to strength class, cement / water content, slump class, aggregate size, exposure class, cement certification, testing, curing etc.
